Showers of Blessings

April has been a calmer month, after two and a half months  traveling to various churches, Easter Sunday brought a natural pause for us to spend with our sending church.  What a blessing that was. The following Saturday our church hosted the Indiana State Associational meeting so we stayed put for that weekend as well giving us two weeks in a row to worship with our sending church.  For this we are thankful. This sweet fellowship of time with our church and the great churches and pastors of Indiana is sweeter now than it’s ever been. As I reflect on the changes to come in the next couple of years as we continue to make progress toward moving to and ministering in Utah, I’m very thankful for those who have and continue to pour into me here in Indiana and in my church. This type of fellowship will become less common but my prayer is that the foundation and example given to me will give me what I need to succeed and sustain me through times of little fellowship as I am to keep my eyes on Christ.

In the weeks leading up to Easter I had opportunity’s to visit:

- Sheridan Baptist Church, Sheridan, IN Pastor Jason Rumph.

- Ringgold Baptist Church, Somerset, KY Pastor Norman Harper.

- Parkers Mill Road Baptist Church, Somerset, KY Pastor Darry Hatfield.

Each of these churches were great hosts and encouraged me as I shared our burden for the state of Utah. The Sunday I went to Somerset my wife and daughter stayed home and our mission treasurer Bro. Derek Waldrep was able to join me.  This made for a good time of fellowship. We are very thankful to the Lord for how he has and continues to provide and for the people he is putting in our path, allowing them to be a blessing to us, we hope to be a blessing to them as well.

For years I have heard of missionary’s having deputation sermons and often preaching the same passage and outline while on deputation. This can be a great blessing as you focus on a theme for the new ministry and is a great evangelical opportunity. Though I’ve never preached the same passage exactly the same twice I have enjoyed preaching on the theme of The Hope of the Gospel.  This made Easter especially sweet this year as I have been preaching on the Lively hope which believers have because of the resurrection of the dead. Not only is this Hope lively but this hope is assurance of a perfect inheritance. As Christian’s we ought to be the most hopefully and cheerful people around but that is not always the case, I pray that I can encourage people along this deputations journey to live in the hope offered in Christ and to let it be a testimony to others.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭5

Special Prayer Request!‬ ‭

Last month we shared with excitement that another family desired to go to Utah and to join our team. We are very thankful for the Cosme family and their willingness to go and desire to follow God. We are asking that you pray with us as they begin the lengthy process of applying for visas. We ask on their behalf for prayers of patience and for God’s will to be done. Please pray that God will open the right doors as he sees fit.
