I‘ll Fly Away (In An Airplane)

In April we spent more time away than we did at the Mission Home here in Arkansas, God blessed our travels and gave us many good visits. I’m thankful for these visits as well as new relationships and friendships being made. In April we visited the following churches and meetings.

  • Butterfield MBC Magnet Cove, AR - Pastor Bobby Goodnight.
  • Unity MBC Sunnyvale, CA - Pastor Matthew Wise (Virtual).
  • Temple Baptist Church Hot Springs, AR - Pastor Todd Houck.

I‘ll Fly Away (In An Airplane)



About a month ago I was doing dishes and singing “I’ll Fly Away” when my 2 ½ year old daughter jumped in with “in the morning”, this was an exciting first for me and a proud moment, a week or so later when I sang “I’ll Fly Away” she interjected “in an airplane”. At the time we had no upcoming flight planned but apparently she knew something we didn’t because just a few days later we decided last minute to fly out to California and I am glad that we did.

We had a wonderful time and God opened the door to many new friendship.  We went for the California State Meeting then stayed for Easter and through the following Wednesday to visit another church before flying back to DFW on the 9th. We had a wonderful time visiting First MBC of Bellflower, they were great hosts for the California State Meeting. We enjoyed getting to know their pastors and worshiping with them on Easter during both their English and Spanish Services. Special thanks to Bro. Chris Rodriguez for his hospitality.

My wife’s birthday happened to fall on the week we were in California which lead to the unexpected opportunity of spending her birthday with some of her cousins and an aunt who live in California. We also took the opportunity to have some family time and enjoyed a trip to Disneyland with our daughter. We finished the week driving up to Lancaster, CA to visit and share with First Landmark MBC, we were glad to have one of my wife’s cousins join us, we had a good time of fellowship and they were good hosts to us.

After arriving back at DFW we returned to Malvern for just a day in a half to regroup before heading back to Texas. We had a great Sunday with Wells First Baptist Church following by 3 days at Calvary Baptist Church in Henderson for the Shepherd's Gathering which was a blessing. I was also given the opportunity to speak to the youth group at Ebenezer Baptist in Henderson which was a great time. After that we stayed in Henderson for a few days on the campus at the Texas Baptist Institute (TBI) in one of the guest house units. We enjoyed the environment and fellowship with many of the students and staff.



The following Saturday I had the privilege of participating in the Ordination of Bro. Teruha Tokuchi at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Bro. Teruha (who Emilia calls “Uncle T”) is graduating from TBI and will return to his home country of Japan with his wife and two sons. Please pray for this family and ministry they have become dear to us over the last year.

From there we returned to Arkansas to visit with Butterfield Missionary Baptist Church. We had a wonderful visit with them, I am thankful for their support and interest in this mission.


We ended the month visiting Temple Baptist Church in Hot Springs where my great aunt and one of my cousins are members. Another one of our cousins attended to hear our burden and show their support. Temple has always made us feel welcome and we are thankful for their prayers and support and for allowing us to share our burden with them.

Preparing for Transition

September was an encouraging and edifying month. We were ministered to at each church we visited. We visited: The Refuge Baptist Church Plainfield, IN - Pastors Jonathan Woodring and Cody Right. Madison Ave Missionary Baptist Church Kentwood, MI - Pastor Nate Lowe. Hyde Park Baptist Church West Monroe, LA - Pastor Trey Emory. September looks slower but God did as much this month as he’s been doing all along. We started out with The Refuge Baptist in Plainfield. We participated in their   Share your Story   series where we were interviewed about what brought us to a point of realizing that God was leading us to Utah. It was a wonderful time to share with them, we are thankful for the Woodring family for their support throughout our Marriage and my ministry. We went the following week to Kentwood, MI, and had a wonderful time there with Bro. Nate Lowe and his church. The week prior to this visit my wife Lourdes had a death in her family. Partnership and Connections

July was a busy and encouraging month full of fellowship and new friendships. We visited two churches in Michigan. Then we got to spend a weekend with our sending Church and celebrate two baptisms, ahead of 6 weeks of travel. Half way through the month, my in-laws arrived from Peru and my Pastor joined me in driving to Chicago to welcome them and pick them up. Not only are we glad that they are here with us for the next several weeks but they are also a great help when traveling with a toddler. We are thankful for their willingness to help! During my trip out west they were a great help to my wife. We are thankful to our church and pastor for the special effort they did in making them feel welcome by having a bilingual service their first Sunday here.
